Jeff King grew up in St. Helena, California and received his BA in Art Practice from UC Berkeley.  After stints living in New Zealand, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, he returned to the Bay Area and went on to receive his MFA from UC Davis.  His primary interest has been the development of a painting practice that flexibly fuses honest, affective, and intuitive communication with ever-shifting content and experience.  He sees painting as a language in mark-making that continues to fold in and expand upon itself in endless directions.  In utilizing a wide-ranging stylistic vocabulary, he attempts to explore, probe, and hopefully participate in the regeneration of that activity.  He currently attempts this in a small studio in the backyard of his home in San Leandro, CA, where he lives with his wonderful wife and two young boys.

He also feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
